Held in our hearts

This animation was created for SANDS Lothians, now known as Held In Our Hearts, to support parents facing an unimaginable situation. When a baby dies, families may need to decide whether to have a post-mortem, and this film was designed to help them understand what this involves with clarity, compassion, and care. It aimed to provide as much support as possible at an incredibly difficult time.

We worked with bereaved parents to find the words and messages they felt were most important to help newly bereaved parents make an informed choice. I came up with the idea of a flowing line to show the journey, the pace was slow giving time to absorb the words that also appear on the screen. This is now being shown in many Health Boards in Scotland and other countries.
